Virginia style beer pong is significantly different than traditional beer pong. On the west coast, for example, beer pong is played with paddles where as, generally, on the east coast it is played free hand. Virginia rules, however, have a much different set up than the other east coast counterparts.
First, there are either six red or blue beer cups (often referred to as party cups). They must be filled with beer up to the first rim (that is about a third full). This equals out to about two full beers per team on either side. The cups are then arranged into a pyramid, this can be made using three cups in the back, two in the middle and then one in the front. It is important that they are then kept very close together to ensure that a ping-pong ball can't get in between them. The cups should be on either side of the table or on two different tables about ten to fifteen feet apart if you lack an actual ping-pong unit.
Usually a water cup will be present to dip the ping-pong balls in so nothing contaminates the beers should the balls hit the floor. Virginia rules are applicable if you are playing as a single or as a double (2 team members) - either way, however, the rules remain the same. One of the key features in the Virginia style is that bounces off of anything count. That could be someone's forehead, appendage, and ceiling or dog, if the ping-pong bounces off of it, it is still in play. However, if it does bounce off of something it is then allowed to be smacked away by the opposing team to avoid a sunken cup of beer.
If your opponent sinks your cup, it must be drunk right away and the game cannot continue until it is. Like traditional beer pong, after the final cup is made, the losing team gets two shots to redeem themselves - this is referred to as rebuttals. The money ball, however, is a distinctly different type of game feature. Two balls are played, one white and one yellow. One team member plays the white ball while the other shoots the yellow. If the yellow ball sinks a cup, it gets returned and the turn can be played again. It keeps getting replayed until you don't make it again. Each team gets to decide who will throw this ball (usually rotating the ball between the two) and whoever is best generally keeps throwing the ball.
Blowing is allowed for females if the ball is spinning on the rim of the cup without getting wet. Male players, however, cannot ever blow. Streaking is also permitted if one team failed to make one successful shot. After consuming all their opponent's beer, they are then required to remove all their clothing and streak at least once around the area.
Like all games that include alcohol, be sure to be responsible. But by all means, have as much fun as you can!
